EMPOWERING THE HYDROGEN ECONOMY

SILICON AN INEXHAUSTIBLE CARBON SUBSTITUTE      People are generally not aware that we have been living in a hydrogen age since the beginning of human economic activity. Our entire industrial society is based on the production, i.e. conversion of hydrogen-containing fuels (fossil fuels) into useful energy.  In fuel, a hydrocarbon molecule, usually Octane (C₈H₁₈), hydrogen is bound to carbon and releases the kinetic or electrical energy, that we humans urgently need, when it is converted into CO2 plus H2O (vapor). During this process, hydrogen and carbon are bonding with oxygen to H2O and CO2. The resulting CO2 climate problem is well known. In this context, it would be more correct to speak of a “PURE HYDROGEN AGE”.

Our industrial society now faces the vital and therefore extremely exciting task of making this process CO2 emission-free. Globally and prompt!

This is where our technology comes in. We use sand SiO2, more precisely the silicon (Si) contained in it, as a bonding medium. To put it simply, we tear the oxygen from the Si to attach H2 to the abandoned Si atom. SYNTEC-FUEL (S₈H₁₈) is born in our reactors.

When converting SYNTEC-FUEL (S₈H₁₈), into useful energy, preferably in Fuel Cells to electricity, it can (in absence of carbon) not release CO2, but SiO2. The Si atom freed from hydrogen looks for the binding partner oxygen, similar to the aforementioned Carbon atom.

There is a number of technical approaches attaching hydrogen to solid or liquid carriers. Methane, Boron, Aluminium …. to name just a few examples. None of them are so strikingly simple and rely on, according to human judgment, unlimited resources.
